Project Coordinator, BY Plus (part-time)

 

Location: Indianapolis/Marion County

Terms: Salaried, Part-Time (24 hours per week)

Starting Salary: $24,960 annually ($20 hourly)

Funding: Grant Funded position for 3+ years

 

About Us: 

NeighborLink Indianapolis (NLI) is a nonprofit organization in Indianapolis providing home repairs to low-income seniors and individuals with disabilities who own their own home. 

 

Position Description:

This role coordinates projects and supervises work experience training for trainees in the BY Plus program. The BY Plus program provides construction work experience to adults with the goal of helping them begin a career in construction or a construction-related field. The Project Coordinator is responsible for the planning and logistics related to their weekly work experience projects in conjunction with other members of the NLI team. The Project Coordinator will be present at each work experience project to assign, supervise, and assist the work. The Project Coordinator Team owns the planning, execution, and communication for BY Plus projects to ensure the work experience projects are successful. 

 

This is a hybrid-location role with the expectation of outdoor and indoor jobsite attendance within Marion County, Indiana, some office hours, and work-from-home opportunities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management

  • Supervise and teach trainees on site in construction methods and management

  • Participate in planning & prep of projects

  • Assist with arranging materials, equipment, vehicles, and/or additional instructors for each project work day

  • Utilize CRM/software as necessary 

  • Other related NLI project management responsibilities as needed

 

Team Coordination

  • Assess projects

  • Assist with NLI projects as needed

  • Assist in maintaining tool organization and storage of materials

 

Supervision

  • Plan and assign work responsibilities to By Plus trainees on work experience days

  • Work with Program partners to monitor student attendance and performance

  • Managing students during work experience to ensure work is completed and skills are being developed

  • Conduct morning and end of day debriefs with students to provide appropriate feedback

 

Administrative

  • Track expenses by project through submission of receipts at the end of each month

  • Contact homeowners to discuss scope of work and notify them when work will be completed


 

Requirements: 

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Experience in construction or an adjacent field

  • Demonstrated ability to instruct and teach in a group setting

  • Organizational skills to maintain documentation and planning (including computer competency)

  • Good teamwork skills

  • Good Communication skills

  • Flexibility in working environment; position includes work from home and throughout Marion County

  • Able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs and work in outdoor settings for up to 8 hours at a time.

 

Preferred: 

  • OSHA Certified

  • Comfort level driving large vehicles and towing trailers (No CDL required)
